EU case-law lookup is a separate exact-identifier workflow using supported ECLI or CELEX identifiers. It is not a comprehensive case-law search. Retrieval, review and any use of verified judgment text require their own supported steps.

Reference detection recognises supported CELEX, ECLI, TAR, TAIS and specified EU instrument forms. It is not a universal recogniser of national-law references. A research jurisdiction option does not add new document-reference formats.

VERISTUM is live with the Ireland material shown in the current coverage inventory above. We are expanding that Ireland source collection separately, with new material added only after the required source, representation and release checks are complete.

EU electronic communications

A bounded, date-specific pack covering selected EU rules on electronic communications networks, services, regulatory authorities, open internet and infrastructure deployment.

Planned — not yet available for research

National questions may also require verification of the relevant Member State's implementing law.

Built to develop, step by step

VERISTUM is live. The current development work is focused on expanding Ireland source coverage while maintaining the document tools and bounded research collections already available.

The Ireland expansion is separate from the live product. Until each source, representation and release check is complete, only the current published Ireland pack shown above is available for research. Other future research packs remain planned rather than active workstreams.

    Keep work standalone or connect it to a Matter. Saving transmits the result, which can contain document-derived text; review it before saving sensitive material.

Processing boundary

What is processed locally, and what is saved or sent

Local document checks

Supported files are read and document checks are performed in your browser. Checking legal references sends the detected identifiers and selected date to the service. Files uploaded separately to a Matter follow the Matter upload workflow, not this local-only processing path.

Saving results

When you choose Save, the displayed result is transmitted to and stored in your private VERISTUM workspace. It may include document-derived text, changed comparison blocks, excerpts, findings, dates, filenames and references. Original input files are not uploaded by this Save action. Review the result before saving sensitive material.

Research processing

Legal research uses an external AI service for your research question and selected official-source excerpts. Do not include confidential, privileged, classified or unnecessary personal information in research inputs. Documents uploaded to a Matter are not sent to that AI service by the current Legal Research panel.

Confidential-document AI workflows are not active. They remain subject to separate provider, retention, privacy and security approval. See the Privacy Policy for the current processing details.

Limitations

What it is not

  • It does not provide legal advice and is not a substitute for a qualified lawyer.
  • It does not guarantee completeness and may not surface every relevant authority.
  • Reference detection recognises supported CELEX, ECLI, TAR, TAIS and specified EU instrument forms. It is not a universal recogniser of national-law references. A research jurisdiction option does not add new document-reference formats. Research availability is described in the current coverage inventory above.
  • “Not found in the current corpus” means the material is not in VERISTUM’s bounded coverage. It is never proof that no relevant law exists.
  • Source-text verification concerns the recorded source and text version. It does not, by itself, establish commencement, current legal effect or applicability to your matter. A missing result is a coverage limitation, not evidence that no relevant law exists.
  • Workspace document checks are textual and deterministic. They do not assess legal correctness and produce no score or accuracy figure.
  • Citation and footnote output uses neutral VERISTUM templates only. It is not a named citation-style certification; OSCOLA, Bluebook and firm templates remain planned and are not active.
  • In a document index, “First explicit date detected” is extracted from the text and is not asserted to be the document date; the document date is a field you enter yourself.
  • Scanned or image-only PDFs are not OCRed in this preview; no text can be read from them.
  • Local text extraction may lose document layout, tables, columns, footnotes and formatting, depending on how the file is structured.
  • Results always require independent verification against the official sources.

Verify the authority, not another AI answer

Irish court guidance now puts independent verification at the centre of AI-assisted court-document work.

What the Courts Service says to check

The High Court and Court of Appeal practice directions on responsible use of generative AI came into operation on 1 September 2026. They make the person responsible for a court document responsible for its accuracy even when generative AI has been used.

  • Confirm that cited cases, legislation and other authorities actually exist.
  • Check that an authority supports the proposition for which it is cited.
  • Independently verify legal authorities, citations, quotations and references using authoritative sources.
  • Check chronologies for accuracy rather than relying on generated dates or sequences.
  • Do not treat asking the same or another generative-AI tool to confirm an answer as independent verification.

Trial, cancellation and founding terms

  • The 7-day free trial applies to Individual and Team plans, requires a payment method, and converts to the plan you selected unless you cancel before the trial ends.
  • The Founding Member plan has no free trial and is arranged by request following approval.
  • You can cancel at any time before the trial ends to avoid the first charge.
  • The Founding Member price is limited to the first 50 accepted Founding Members and remains while the subscription stays continuously active.
  • If a Founding subscription is cancelled and later restarted, the founding price is not guaranteed.
